Hema Malini has spoken publicly for the first time about holding separate prayer meetings after the demise of her husband, dharmendra, addressing speculation around family differences.
She clarified that the decision was personal and taken after discussion within the family, stressing that there was no hidden conflict behind it.
Why the Prayer Meetings Were Held Separately
In an interview with The Times of India, hema malini said the prayer meets reflected different social and professional circles.
She organised a puja and bhajans at her mumbai residence, as her associates and well-wishers are different from those of the Deol family.
A separate prayer meeting was later held in New delhi, considering her political responsibilities and connections.
She also mentioned Mathura, her parliamentary constituency, saying locals deeply admired dharmendra and wanted to pay their respects.
“I am happy with what I did,” she said, underlining that the decisions felt right to her.
Deol Family Prayer Meet in Mumbai
The Deol family, including sunny deol, bobby Deol, and their mother Prakash Kaur, hosted a prayer meeting in mumbai on november 27.
Several film stars such as salman khan, Rekha, vidya Balan, and aishwarya rai bachchan attended.
Senior political leaders and celebrities were present at the delhi prayer meeting held at Dr. Ambedkar international Centre.
No Rift Within the Family
Hema Malini firmly dismissed rumours of tension between Dharmendra’s two families.
She said everything was cordial and progressing smoothly, urging people not to overthink family matters.
On questions about converting Dharmendra’s Lonavala farmhouse into a museum, she shared that sunny deol is already considering related plans.
Final Days and Unfulfilled Birthday Plans
The family had hoped for Dharmendra’s recovery and was preparing to celebrate his 90th birthday on december 8.
Hema Malini recalled that he was communicative in the hospital and had even wished her on her birthday in October.
His sudden passing came as a devastating shock after weeks of medical struggle.
Returning to Work
Coping with the loss, hema malini said she is resuming work, performances, and political duties.
She added that staying active would have made “Dharamji” happy, giving her the strength to move forward.
