Presently as per sources from Bengaluru, the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that Bramharshi Narayana Guru Jayanti, scheduled on September 16th, will be celebrated as a government programme.
It is stated that Sri Narayana Guru, a Kerala-born philosopher and social reformer, is known for his efforts for the spiritual and social upliftment of the downtrodden and he has worked for the upliftment of the people.
Meanwhile a delegation of the Billava Association, which was led by its president M. Vedakumar, has called on the chief minister on Wednesday.
Mr. Siddaramaiah has assured them that the 162nd Jayanti of Sri Narayana Guru will be celebrated as a government programme and he has directed officials of the Department of Kannada and Culture to make special safety arrangements for the celebrations, according to a release from the Chief Minister’s office.
