The Humanist People's party (HPP) has asked the federal government to exempt educational diplomas from the GST. "From this year forward, anna university and affiliated college students will be obliged to pay GST on each service along with their fees," said Jawaharlal Nehru, the party's leader, and legislator. The GST tax on certificates is expected to become a big burden on the student community at a time when students and parents are struggling to pay tuition fees in the midst of a grave crisis. I strongly denounce the central government for being unconcerned with student welfare and concentrating solely on revenue collection. I am writing on behalf of the Humanitarian People's party to request that the 18% GST on certificates received by university students be repealed.
