MP: Underground tunnel collapses laborers feared trapped??


An underground tunnel being built under the Narmada Valley project has collapsed near the Katni district in madhya pradesh (MP). Many laborers are feared to be trapped due to this accident in the tunnel under construction, this accident happened near Sleemanabad.


According to preliminary information, about 9 laborers were buried under the debris due to the tunnel collapse, out of which 7 laborers have been safely taken out, while the work of evacuating 2 people is going on. local people say that some more people may be trapped inside the tunnel. The laborers buried under the rubble have received injuries and have been admitted to the hospital. This incident happened during the construction of the underground canal being prepared under the Bargi Canal Project.


Rajesh Rajora, Additional Principal Secretary, madhya pradesh Home Department has said that 7 laborers have been taken out safely so far. He said that now only two laborers are trapped in this tunnel and a rescue operation is being conducted to save them. Senior officials are also keeping an eye on the spot, the NDRF team is also reaching the spot.


MP cm Shivraj Singh Chouhan has tweeted on his social media page about this accident. He stated that the relief and rescue work is on, it is expected that soon the workers will be evacuated safely.
