Former AIADMK minister S.P. Velumani and Singanallur assembly member KR Jayaram, among others, have been targeted by the DMK government in retaliation. In a joint statement, AIADMK co-ordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy strongly condemned the illegal political retaliation.

They said, "The DMK administration has regularly used punitive measures against AIADMK ministers to cover up its failings, unable to stand up to the AIADMK's commitment and hard work in serving the people and in politics. In august of last year, the DMK government falsely accused AIADMK secretary and coimbatore suburban South district secretary and former minister SP Velumani mla of defamation in the name of anti-corruption checks in Velumani-related areas with the intent of discrediting the people, once again targeting Velumani and Singanallur constituency legislator KR Jayaram, among others.

These actions of unjustified political retaliation are severely condemned by us. The authorities need to know that the people are aware of the DMK government's goals. He is currently being pursued for refusing to allow Velumani's political activities in the coimbatore district during the local government elections. All those who are politically aware are aware that the anti-corruption department is conducting raids on Velumani and his associates today in order to thwart Velumani, who bravely fought the DMK's manipulative activities and malpractices in the coimbatore local body elections by-elections for the post of mayor."
