It is worth noting that the state has chosen november 1, the date when language-wise states were formed (1956), for this purpose. This is not the end of Kerala; Fears have arisen that this is the first point of an endless border dispute.

The state of kerala shares its borders with the states of tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Maximum 830 km with tamil Nadu. kerala has the border. Of which 203 km, are from tamil Nadu - kerala demarcated areas. Remaining 627 km are lost already. As the area is in the Western Ghats and forest areas, the land survey works have not yet been defined by the two state governments. This is the situation even after 66 years of formation of a linguistic state. It is in this context that the kerala government has taken up the work of land measurement and boundary demarcation.

The Pinarayi Vijayan-led government, which plans to complete this work within the next four years, has allocated Rs 856.42 crore for this purpose. A total of 4,700 people including 1,500 land surveyors and 3,200 assistants have been engaged in this work. For this mammoth survey work, the kerala government has launched a website called 'Enda Bhumi' (My Bhumi) and is co-ordinating the related work.
