The telangana High court concluded the hearing on the PIL contesting N. Shankar's land allocation and scheduled the matter for decision on July 7 (today). In order to build a film studio, the state government granted the filmmaker 5 acres of land in Mokila village, Rangareddy district, close to Hyderabad, in 2019. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed to contest the director's land allocation.

The petitioner had raised concerns about the director being given land valued at about Rs 5 crore per acre for Rs 5 lakh. However, the state administration defended the allocation, claiming that it is consistent with government policy. It argued before the court that giving property to movie companies and famous actors at a discount is nothing new. The State Film Development Corporation's proposal, the need for establishing a film studio close to Hyderabad, and the applicant's sincerity were all taken into consideration before the decision to award the property was made, the court was informed.

Through a counter-affidavit, municipal administration secretary Arvind Kumar informed the court that the land was allocated after shankar paid a deposit of Rs. 5 crore and made a commitment to invest Rs. 50 crore to build a contemporary studio with all the necessary equipment for producing full-length films as well as advertisements that depict the history of the new state. The director also pledged to the government that the studio would employ 1,000 film employees every day, 100 of whom would work directly and 200 indirectly.

Additionally, the court was informed that shankar is a renowned director from the region with 36 years of experience in the motion picture business. shankar had also stated in court that he had not obtained the property from the telangana government by means of his notoriety or his local roots. He stated that the government of the then-undivided andhra pradesh had agreed to grant him the property in 2012, but nothing came of it. The matter was put up for orders on July 7 after the court heard arguments from all parties.
