THE 272-SIGNATORIES CHARADE: A MANUFACTURED shield FOR A COMPROMISED election SYSTEM
If anyone still believes the “272 eminent people” letter defending the election commission of india was an organic, patriotic outburst, it’s time for a reality check. What we’re witnessing is not a defence of democracy—it’s an elaborate, carefully choreographed ecosystem closing ranks to protect political power, not democratic integrity.
Look at the pattern the text itself highlights:
Former judges appointed under one administration. Former intelligence chiefs who later “openly” aligned with the ruling establishment. Former diplomats with well-documented political affinities. When the same circle repeatedly emerges to offer “clean chits” at every critical moment—every controversy, every institutional question, every allegation—the coincidences stop being coincidences.
This is not a spontaneous response. This is a well-oiled synchronised messaging machine.
A machine where “eminent” voices are activated the moment public scrutiny rises—acting less like neutral guardians of democracy and more like a PR firewall for those in power.
And here’s the biggest insult: anyone who questions the election Commission’s conduct—delayed complaints, selective actions, suspicious inaction—is branded “anti-national”, “biased”, or part of an opposition conspiracy. As if democracy belongs to a party, not the people.
If these 272 signatories are so confident about the ECI’s integrity, why don’t they demand transparency? Why not support full disclosure of political funding, EVM audits, real-time complaint resolution, and independent oversight?
Why is every “defence” only a defence of the ruling side, never a defence of democratic procedure?
So the real question is:
Is this a patriotic stand to protect democratic institutions—
or a coordinated propaganda operation to protect political masters from public accountability?
