The ban on laptop-tablet has been lifted by the government till 31st october 2023. On friday, the central government decided to postpone the ban for 3 months. With this decision by the Centre, electronic companies have now got more time to import these devices without a license. Now from november 1, 2023, these companies will have to obtain a license to import these products. Let it be known that on august 3, the government banned the import of products like laptops and computers with immediate effect. After this, the industry expressed its concern about this order.




The Directorate General of Trade (DGFT) issued a notification late on friday night ordering that the notification on thursday 3 august will be effective from 1 November. The order states that the banned imports are being exempted till 31st october 2023. Consignments of these products can be imported without a license in these three months. This ban will be enforced from november 1, 2023. After this, a license will be required for importation.'



The order states that 'Import of laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, ultra-small form factor computers, and servers is exempted till october 31, 2023.' The government's order will provide relief to those companies who were worried after Thursday's order. Let us tell you that the government had banned these products for safety reasons and to promote Make in India. This move will also reduce shipments of such products from countries like china and Korea. According to officials, the import ban will allow the Center to keep a close eye on the places where these products are coming from.
