
Jaya Verma Sinha has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Railway Board. The Railway Board is functioning under the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Board acts as the highest governing body of the indian Railways. In this situation, the central government has appointed Jaya Verma Sinha as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Railway Board. Jaya Verma Sinha is the first woman to hold the post in the 105-year history of the Ministry of Railways. An alumnus of allahabad University, Jaya Verma Sinha joined the indian Railway Transport service (IRTS) in 1988. He has worked in three railway zones namely Northern Railway, South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway.
The Appointments Committee of the Union cabinet has approved the appointment of Jaya Verma Sinha as Member (Operations and business Development), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board, indian Railway Management services (IRMS). Anil Kumar Lahoti is the current Chairman of the Railway Board. His tenure ends on august 31 (today). Accordingly, Jaya Verma Sinha will take charge as the Chairman of the Railway Board on september 1. His tenure ends on august 31, 2024. But, Jay Verma Sinha is going to retire on october 1. However, in order to complete the remaining term of the Chairman of the Board, he shall be re-appointed on the same day.
