Senior authorities claim that changes will be made as and when they are needed, without interfering with traffic flow. When the Lulu Group inaugurated their mall in thiruvananthapuram in 2021, there was a similar chaotic scene that caused traffic to back up onto the main highway. According to a KPHB traffic police officer, the long weekend, which witnessed an increase in heavy traffic from thursday to Monday, was the main cause of the traffic gridlock. Contrary to reports that there were no police present throughout the turmoil, over 150 traffic inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables have been deployed since friday to deal with the issue.
