According to Article 200 of the Constitution of india, the governor has reserved three bills for the consideration of

the President. The three bills which have been reserved by the governor are - punjab university Laws

(Amendment) Bill, 2023, Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and punjab Police (Amendment) Bill, 2023. In

the special session of the punjab Assembly convened on june 19 and 20, the bhagwant mann government had

passed four bills, out of which one bill, the university Services Amendment Bill, had been passed recently. Three

bills, punjab university Law (Amendment) Bill, Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill and punjab Police

(Amendment) Bill, were kept reserved for the approval of the President.

Let us tell you that the bhagwant mann government had approached the supreme court against Governor

banwarilal purohit for the delay in approving the bills passed by the punjab Assembly. After this, the Supreme

court had said on november 9 that the governors of the states should take action before the matter comes to the

apex court. Chief Justice of india D.Y. Chandrachud said, This must end, the governor takes action only when

cases reach the supreme Court. The top court said this while hearing the punjab government's petition against


governor banwarilal purohit for delay in approving the bills passed by the Assembly. punjab government sought

directions to the governor to clear all pending bills passed by the Assembly.
