The race for chief minister is now going on in the Bharatiya Janata Party, which came into majority after the

assembly elections in Rajasthan. On the other hand, discussion has started on the reasons for the defeat of big faces

of congress by a huge margin. One such example was seen in udaipur, where congress national spokesperson

Gaurav Vallabh lost by more than 32 thousand votes. Political analysts are coming forward with two major reasons

behind this. Whereas former chief minister Ashok Gehlot himself contested for Gaurav Vallabh, along with road

shows he also held public meetings. Even after this he lost by a huge margin.

Congress candidate was never permanent, face changed after one defeat

Trilok Purbiya of congress had last become mla from udaipur City assembly seat in the year 1998. Since then,

Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been winning continuously. Tarachand Jain won this election with a

record number of votes. If we look at the record, after mohanlal Sukhadia, Trilok Purbia of congress is the only

one who contested 3 consecutive elections from 1999 to 2008, out of which he won only once. Apart from these,

Congress changed faces every time. Like Dinesh Shrimali contested elections in 2013, girija Vyas in 2018 and

Gaurav Vallabh in 2023. In such a situation, due to the connection of His Excellency Gulab Chand Kataria with

the land, udaipur became the stronghold of BJP.

Factionalism started after Gaurav Vallabh got ticket

As soon as Gaurav Vallabh got the ticket from udaipur city, opposition started in congress on the issue of an

outsider. There are also discussions that there was internal factionalism during the elections. While talking to

journalists after the elections, Gaurav Vallabh himself had said that the good days of those doing anti-party work

are over.
