punjab police has registered a case against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of banned organization Sikh for Justice on charges of promoting hatred between different groups on the basis of religion and race. police said on wednesday (January 24) that this FIR was registered on january 23 at Sultanwind police station in Amritsar. The Union home Ministry has declared Pannu a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and banned Sikhs for Justice. In a video posted on social media, Pannu reportedly claimed that Amritsar's Shri Durgiana temple has no historical significance in Hinduism.

Warned to temple management

The pro-Khalistan leader also reportedly warned the temple management to close its gates and hand over its keys to the golden temple administration. According to the police, a case has been registered against Pannu on the basis of the video posted on social media.

Case registered under these sections

Pannu has been booked under the IT Act as well as sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion or race), 153B (statements promoting hatred between different religious, racial, linguistic or regional groups) of the indian Penal Code. A case has been registered under IPC and 505 (spreading rumours).

CM has also threatened Bhagwant Mann

Earlier on january 16, Pannu had indirectly threatened punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Mann and director General of police Gaurav Yadav. In an email sent to some journalists and two videos accessed by PTI, Pannu had compared Mann to former punjab Chief minister Beant Singh, who was assassinated in a bomb blast on august 31, 1995. Pannu compared punjab police director General Yadav to police officer Gobind ram who died in a bomb blast in 1990.
