Congress angry over making hindi a compulsory...

A plan has been made to implement the National education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) in Maharashtra. Under this, hindi will be taught as a compulsory third language from class 1 to 5 in Marathi and english medium schools. Now congress has reacted to this. party leader Vijay Wadettiwar targeted the government and said that Marathi language has its own importance, hindi should not be imposed.

On making hindi a compulsory third language for class 1-5 in Maharashtra, congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said, "It is written in the Constitution that the state has the right to put its mother tongue forward. The second alternative language which is in practice, for the country and state, is English. I say that there is no need to impose hindi as a compulsory third language. Do not reduce the importance of Marathi by imposing this, keep it optional.''

Marathi language has a different importance - Vijay Wadettiwar

He further said, ''There is no question of anyone opposing keeping it optional. But if it is imposed forcefully, it will be wrong. Marathi language has a different importance here, it has a different dignity and self-respect too. Everyone knows the importance of Marathi language, history is also a witness to this. Those who fought against Aurangzeb, who fought them, who fought against the foreign invasion. The history of all that is in front of us. The question is that keep hindi optional, there is no need to forcefully implement it in Maharashtra.

Vijay Wadettiwar's taunt on PM Modi and Shah

Vijay Wadettiwar also said, ''If PM narendra modi ji and home minister amit shah ji speak hindi regularly, then everyone should speak the same, this is wrong, isn't it? This is not right. If they want to come to Maharashtra, they should also learn Marathi, then we will feel good that our prime minister speaks in Marathi. Former prime minister PV narasimha Rao spoke 16 languages. Our manmohan singh knew 11 languages. So do not impose language on anyone and if you do, then Marathi culture and thought will be harmed.
