Forty-one people died in a tragic stampede in Karur, tamil Nadu, on sunday evening.


Incident occurred during a rally organized by actor and Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay.


Police have accused Vijay of a "deliberate show of strengthin their FIR.


Delay in Vijay’s Arrival

Rally was scheduled to begin at 9 am; Vijay's speech was set for 12 pm.


Vijay arrived around 7 pm, nearly seven hours later than planned.


By 11 am, a large crowd had already gathered.


The crowd size swelled from 10,000 to nearly 30,000 due to the delay.


Police allege the delay was deliberate to heighten public expectations.


Unauthorized Road Show


Vijay's campaign bus stopped at multiple locations without scheduled events.


The rally resembled a road show conducted without official permission.


Traffic disruptions occurred, and the lack of food and water escalated crowd unrest.


Barricade Breach and Roof Collapse


TVK workers reportedly broke through barricades intended to control the crowd.


Workers climbed onto the tin roof of a shed, which suddenly collapsed.


The roof collapse triggered a massive stampede, resulting in multiple fatalities.


Political Fallout


The incident intensified tensions between ruling DMK and TVK.


TVK labeled the tragedy a "DMK conspiracyand requested a cbi investigation.


TVK lawyer Arivazhagan claimed, "We did not violate any rules; many rallies concluded without incident."


DMK spokesperson Dr. Syed Hafeezullah avoided direct conspiracy claims, emphasizing legal processes and self-reflection by TVK leaders.


CM Stalin’s Response


Tamil Nadu chief minister MK stalin expressed grief over the tragedy.


Appealed for peace and responsible behavior from the public.


Released a social media video urging against spreading false rumors about the Karur accident.
