The Right to Information Act (RTI) has been enacted with the lofty goal to make sure that the transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority and it is considered as a powerful instrument in the hands of citizens to expose corruption.


Meanwhile the officials seem to be finding to quite easy to write as “Nil” and back. But citizens are taking pain to take recourse to the Right to Information Act to find put the public authorities are a disappointed lot.


One such applicant is Kalpesh Lalit Kumar Gupta who is an assistant professor of law, from Surat. He has registered a case for RTI with the Union Ministry of Finance. He has got more than 1000 letters but not the information that he required.


The applicants have told that even the postmen are getting angry at the number of letters that have to be delivered to the RTI applicants. Meanwhile Sanjeev Kumar have filed an RTI application with the agriculture ministry on subsidy of seeds has told that every day he gets 50 to 70 registered posts and the postmen is not really very much pleased.
