Dinesh karthik received plaudits from team players and spectators alike for taking on the job of commentator during the World Test championship (WTC) finals among team india and new zealand last month. However, one remark made by the kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) member forced him to apologize publicly. On Thursday, the 36-year-old made an unflattering remark during the 2nd One-Day international involving england and Sri Lanka, for which he was chastised on Twitter.

During commentating on the match, the wicketkeeper-batsman drew comparisons among both cricket bats and the 'neighbours wife.' Batsmen and bat aversion are inextricably linked. The majority of hitters appear to dislike their bats. Either they like the other person's bat. Bats are like your next-door neighbour's wife. They always make you feel better." He commented during the match. However, 3 days after his statement, karthik came forth to apologise to the public, claiming that his wife and mother had scolded him for his remarks.

Karthik explained, "I'd like to express my regret for the events of the last game. It's not exactly what I had in mind. I simply misunderstood everything. I sincerely sorry to everyone. It's not the appropriate thing to say. My wife and mother both scolded me for saying that."
