More than 1 lakh people downloaded the apps

It has been said in the report that out of the 14 affected apps, 3 apps have been downloaded by more than 1 lakh people. That means the privacy of all these people has been disturbed. Although the good thing is that google has now removed all these apps from the Play Store, it is a matter of concern for those people who have downloaded these apps and still have them on their phones.

Apart from these, 12 apps are affected by malware named 'Xamalicious' and are present on third-party websites or stores. According to ANI report, these apps are in APK form and are breaking people's privacy.


Xamalicious is an Android backdoor that integrates into apps built using the .NET Framework and the open-source Xamarin Framework. After installing the apps, this malware gains access to the accessibility service and then records things on the screen, and steals data from the apps in the background.
