google is soon preparing to make its AI chatbot gemini available for younger users as well. Recently the company announced that children under 13 years of age in the US will now be able to use this AI tool on Android, iOS and web.
gemini will be used specifically for children
google had said in march that it would launch gemini for children which would include tools like monitoring and parental control. Now according to a report, google has started informing the parents of children about this facility by sending emails. Children will be able to use gemini for tasks like doing homework, asking questions and making stories. After the launch, this chatbot will be available on both mobile apps and web platforms. The report also says that if children want, they will also be able to make it the default assistant of their Android device.
Warning along with information
google has also clarified in the email that the information received from gemini may not be completely accurate, so children should double-check any answer before using it. It has also been told that gemini is not a human being, it only imitates conversation but does not have the ability to think or feel.
parents and schools will get control
Children using gemini will be monitored by their parents and school administrators. If a child logs in with a school account, then the administrator will be able to monitor his activity through google Admin Console. At the same time, parents will get the option to manage their children's google account and access to gemini through the Family Link app. This app will also let them know when and how the child is using Gemini.
