The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary education (UPMSP) has started preparations for the 2026 High school and Intermediate Board Exams. In a major initiative, the board has decided to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the first time to ensure a cheating-free and transparent examination process.

 Why This Move?

Every year, UP Board conducts one of the largest examinations in the world, with over 50 lakh students appearing. Despite strict measures, cases of unfair means and paper leaks have been reported in the past.
To tackle this challenge, the board is now turning to AI-powered technology to strengthen its monitoring system.

🤖 How AI Will Prevent Cheating

According to officials, the AI system will be deployed at multiple levels:

Smart CCTV Surveillance

All exam centers will be monitored through CCTV cameras connected to a central AI-based control room.

The system will detect unusual movements, group activities, or suspicious behavior and immediately alert the authorities.

Facial Recognition

AI-enabled cameras will verify the identity of students and staff to prevent impersonation.

Voice & Sound Detection

Advanced microphones and AI tools will analyze background noises.

Any unusual sound patterns like whispering, dictation, or phone use will be flagged.

AI-Powered Data Analytics

Attendance, seating arrangements, and answer sheet movements will be tracked digitally.

Any irregularities in data will be highlighted for instant action.

📅 Preparations for 2026 Exams

The board has already begun infrastructure upgrades at exam centers.

Training sessions for invigilators and technical staff will be conducted before the exams.

A trial run of AI surveillance will be carried out in select districts later this year.

 Benefits of the Initiative

Transparency in exam management

Fair opportunities for sincere students

Reduction in cases of paper leaks, impersonation, and mass copying

Real-time centralized monitoring for quick response

📌 Final Word

With the AI-driven monitoring system, the UP Board aims to make the 2026 examinations the most secure and fair in history. This move is expected to restore confidence among students, parents, and teachers while setting a new benchmark in exam governance.
