The criminal and action thriller genres are not new to Netflix. The streaming service just just released Windfall, a movie about a marriage that disintegrated in the midst of an unusual house invasion. The Gray Man, a film that was constantly entertaining and included action and espionage as its main themes, was next directed and produced by the Russo brothers. The most recent action movie from director Millicent Shelton is a delightful surprise since it breathes new life into the genre and grounds it in strong human relationships. Shelton makes a narrative that was already engaging about family, motherhood, and surviving in End of the Road. And it is nothing less than amusing and energising.

Brenda (Queen Latifah) is a widow, a committed nurse, and the mother to Cam (Shaun Dixon) and Kelly, two devoted children (Mychala Lee). Brenda finds herself in financial trouble and in need of a change after the death of her late spouse Jake. Brenda travels across the southwest with her brother Reggie (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges) to relocate her family from california to Houston, Texas. They witness a terrible murder at a motel while on this lengthy journey. And to make matters worse, Reggie takes a sack of cash that a mystery underworld boss known only as "Mr. Ross" in New mexico had left behind. Brenda, her children, and her brother must find a way to survive not just the brutal desert but also a serial killer because no one will come to their aid.

End of the Road's script by David Loughery is the kind of tale one would anticipate to be packed with action and a good helping of humour. Loughery stays back on the humour and chooses a narrative that is focused on family drama and survival, even though he does include the perfect amount of suspenseful situations. This unassuming approach to the movie's tone results in a naturally entertaining feature with lots of positives and barely any negatives. As a result, Netflix's most recent mystery/action thriller is one of their best original productions and is as thrilling and filled with action as it is constrained.

Shelton's most recent work is a realistic action thriller with lots of emotion that works well with its many action-packed scenes. This story's central theme is the importance of family, and Loughery's writing skillfully incorporates that theme as the plot develops. End of the Road, which is replete with countless amusing and heartwarming moments, plays to its advantages while giving viewers plenty of space to speculate. This kind of movie is ideal for a weekend with the family because it has excellent acting from the actors and a good mix of heart and action.
