Sidney and Gale were close behind Richie's automobile, which led to the latter being murdered by Liv as Sidney entered the same house as the confrontation between her, Billy, and Stu. Richie identified himself as the second Ghostface murderer shortly after Sidney valiantly confronted the nightmare once more. Amber and Richie devised the "third act" as a way to blame sam for the newest Woodsboro murders, stating that the legacy characters, particularly Sidney, needed to perish. tara temporarily foiled their plot, forcing the murderers to divide off, with Amber focusing on Sidney and Gale and Richie on Sam.

Meanwhile, sam, who, like Sidney, had been stabbed, went up against Richie. sam grabbed a knife after seeing her father and violently slashed Richie to dead. Amber resurrected as a homage to the first Scream, causing sam to fire a couple more rounds into her.
