First HMPV case in IT city Bangalore..!?

The first HMPV infection has been reported in Bengaluru, as information was released yesterday that the rapidly spreading Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection in china has started spreading in India. Meanwhile, senior medical officer Vandana Baga has ordered to take important restrictions and precautions in Delhi. Since it is currently winter in the IT city Bangalore, there is a possibility that this HMPV virus can spread rapidly, it is worth noting that winter was cited as a major factor in the rapid spread of this virus in China. Meanwhile, while air pollution in delhi and its surrounding areas is already high, it is said that the spread of this HMPV virus will affect children, the elderly, and asthma patients the most.
An eight-month-old baby has been confirmed to be infected with the virus in a private hospital in Bengaluru. Although the state health department has not retested the tested sample, the report of the private hospital has been accepted. HMPV, a respiratory virus that mainly affects children under the age of 11, causes symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and cold. It is not yet known which HMPV strain the child infected with the HMPV virus in Bengaluru is infected with.

Delhi outbreak: delhi health authorities on sunday issued an advisory to be prepared for outbreaks related to HMPV and other respiratory viruses. They have been instructed to maintain detailed records of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARI) cases and improve medical facilities to monitor laboratory-confirmed influenza cases. Delhi's Chief health Officer Dr Vandana Bhaga held a meeting with district chief medical officers and the state project officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) to discuss the preparedness for handling respiratory infections. Hospitals in delhi have been instructed to report cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) on the IHIP platform, PTI reported.

Meanwhile, people with suspected cases have been warned to follow strict quarantine procedures. With the spread of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) increasing in china, the maharashtra State health Department has issued a major warning in its report. However, the public need not panic, and health authorities should record the number and details of people infected with SARI and ILI, said State director of health Services Dr Nitin Ambedkar. The health Department has assured the public that no HMPV cases have been reported in the state of maharashtra at present.
