As gunfire erupted in Pahalgam, 11 individuals traveling from kerala to kashmir for the first time were spared by a platter of salty mutton. Kannur resident Lavanya Alby George informed the Telegraph about their personal experience with the terrible killings that occurred tuesday, april 22.
On the day that terrorists spat blood in Baisaran, Lavanya was having lunch with her extended family at a nearby restaurant called moon Walk. Along with her husband, their three kids, their parents, her husband's cousin, and her own family, she was on vacation. They chose to eat lunch on tuesday after forgoing it on sunday and monday in favor of sightseeing, she informed the publication. Mutton rigan josh, one of the meals, had an excessive amount of salt. Thus, they requested that the restaurant make it once more. Their plans to travel to Baisaran were delayed as a result.
Unaware of what was going on up the mountain, the family arrived in the Baisaran meadows after finishing their meal to find turmoil. As their riders yelled something in a language they couldn't understand, Lavanya remembers seeing ponies race down from the mountain.
"Nearby taxi drivers alerted us about a fight between tourists and the CRPF. We returned to our hotel, unaware of the whole situation," Lavanya remarked.
She noticed Pallavi, the distraught wife of Manjunath Rao, a native of Karnataka, who had been murdered by the terrorists. However, they were unaware of what had happened on the mountain. They didn't find out that terrorists had killed 26 people until they got back to their hotel.
