Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin has sharply criticised AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), accusing him of issuing political statements aimed at appeasing the central leadership in Delhi, rather than safeguarding the interests of the people of tamil Nadu.

Speaking at a public meeting, the chief minister remarked that EPS’s recent statement appeared to be designed to “cool down Delhi”, suggesting that the opposition leader was prioritising political alignment with the Centre over standing firmly for state rights.

Allegation of Political Submission

Stalin alleged that instead of questioning or challenging policies of the Union government that adversely affect tamil Nadu, EPS has chosen a path of compliance and silence. He stated that such an approach weakens the voice of tamil Nadu and undermines the spirit of federalism.

According to the chief minister, the role of the opposition is to fearlessly raise people’s concerns, not to issue statements that serve the interests of political allies at the Centre.

Contrast With DMK’s Stand

Highlighting the DMK government’s position, stalin reiterated that his administration has consistently taken a firm and principled stand on issues affecting tamil Nadu, including financial rights, language policy, and welfare schemes. He said the DMK would never compromise on the state’s interests, regardless of political pressure from Delhi.

The chief minister added that tamil Nadu’s dignity and autonomy must always come first.

Questioning EPS’s Commitment to State Rights

Stalin questioned whether EPS truly represents the voice of tamil Nadu, arguing that repeatedly aligning with the Centre at the cost of state interests amounts to political surrender. He accused the AIADMK leader of failing to act as a strong opposition voice when crucial issues arise.

Political Message to the Public

The criticism was also seen as a message to the public that Tamil Nadu requires leaders who speak boldly and independently, not those who adjust their positions to suit the political climate in Delhi.

Conclusion

By accusing Edappadi Palaniswami of issuing statements to “cool down Delhi,” chief minister M.K. stalin delivered a pointed critique of the AIADMK leadership. His remarks reinforced the DMK’s image as a party that stands firm on federal principles and the rights of tamil Nadu, while portraying the opposition as submissive to central authority.
