Residents of Pakistan's Muzaffarabad said they fled into the nearby hills after India's overnight strike on Wednesday, which was part of "Operation Sindoor," which hit nine terror targets in pakistan and Pakistan-occupied kashmir (PoK), according to Reuters. During the early hours of Wednesday, indian forces launched an unexpected offensive on parts of Muzaffarabad.

Locals told Reuters that as the strikes started, people were instructed to seek shelter via mosque loudspeakers amid explosions. "We went outside. Then there was another explosion.  The entire home shifted.  According to the Reuters article, Muhammad Shair Mir, 46, described what transpired during India's counterterrorism strikes: "Everyone got scared, we all evacuated, took our kids, and went up (the hill)."

India has targeted several terror hotspots in pakistan, including Barnala, Sarjal, Mehmoona, Bilal, LeT Kotli, Muridke, Gulpur, and Bahawalpur.

Operation Sindoor
Following the horrific terror assault in pahalgam on april 22 that claimed the lives of 26 people, primarily tourists, india responded forcefully to pakistan with its precision strikes.  Following the strikes, tensions along the Line of Control have increased, and residents in india have been moved to safer areas.

India's foreign secretary, vikram Misri, defended the airstrikes carried out as part of "Operation Sindoor" by claiming that pakistan had not taken any action against terrorism.  Hours after the airstrikes, Misri, Wing commander Vyomika Singh, and Col. Sofiya Qureshi gave a press briefing.

"A group called the Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the pahalgam attack," Misri stated during the news briefing.  Lashkar-e-Taiba is associated with this outfit.  Pakistani ties have been amply demonstrated.

He went on to say that pakistan failed to take any action to dismantle the terror networks operating from its territory in spite of reliable intelligence and growing international concerns.  He claimed that pakistan has established a reputation as a refuge for terrorists.

Misri added that the pahalgam attack's strategy was intended to sow division among the communities in kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir and other indian regions.
