Salman Khan’s much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar, turned out to be a major box-office disappointment, failing to meet both critical and commercial expectations. From the outset, the film struggled to generate substantial pre-release buzz, with lackluster promotions and a tepid trailer reception. Upon release, the action drama received overwhelmingly poor reviews, and negative word-of-mouth quickly spread.

Despite being a holiday release, Sikandar barely crossed ₹100 crore nett in India—a figure underwhelming by Salman’s standards and even lower than his previous underperformer, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The film also marked the return of renowned South indian director AR murugadoss to Bollywood, but his comeback was widely criticized for failing to deliver a compelling narrative or impactful direction.

With its theatrical run coming to a lackluster close, Sikandar is now set to make its wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital debut on Netflix starting May 25. The film follows the traditional eight-week theatrical-to-digital window that has become standard in Bollywood. Despite its failure on the big screen, the movie’s arrival on OTT could offer it a second chance at redemption.

Often, films that do not perform well in theatres manage to find an audience online, particularly due to the convenience of home viewing and the reach of platforms like Netflix.
