There has been a major change in the investment habits of indians in recent times. people are increasingly focusing on modern technology-based Bitcoin rather than investing in land. Compared to traditional investment opportunities like bank accounts, stock markets, and gold, its rapid price fluctuations and global trading opportunities are attracting young people. It is said that india may be the second-largest Bitcoin holder in the world. After the United States, the number of Bitcoins held by indians is estimated to be around 1 million coins (Bitcoins). This is more than 5% of the global Bitcoin supply. This estimate is around 120 billion US dollars (i.e., over Rs. 10 lakh crore) at the current market price.  Although this assessment is not based on solid evidence, one thing is clear. indians have started to open their minds to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. It is no longer a rare investment opportunity. On the contrary, it is becoming a new financial medium that is close to a large population.
There is a statistic to support this. india is ranked 1st in the "Global Crypto Adoption Index" published by Chainalysis in 2024. According to an estimate by a well-known crypto statistics organization called Triple-A, more than 90 million people in india currently own at least one type of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is the primary choice of most investors. It is considered a "digital asset" that is considered an alternative to gold and has gained a lot of confidence due to its historical value. Next in line are currencies with smart-contract facilities, including Ethereum. Crypto asset ownership also reflects Indians’ desire to protect themselves against currency devaluation, seek new investment opportunities, and connect with global trade. It has outperformed all major asset classes for the past 15 years. Moreover, it moves in line with global liquidity. Are indians more attracted to Bitcoin? Yes. indian investors are not ignoring Bitcoin. They are simply looking at it from a distance and being afraid. This trend is likely to continue, affecting both small and large institutional investors. Crypto trading involves both luck and risk. Therefore, it is important for those looking to invest in Bitcoin to do so informed, in a good manner, and with an understanding of the implications.
