What’s Changing on YES bank Credit Cards?
Starting April 1, 2026, YES Bank is updating its credit card fee and transaction rules. These changes will affect how certain payments like utility bills, transportation (tolls/bridge fees), and wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital wallet loads are charged — with new thresholds and possible fees applying depending on your card type.
1. Higher Thresholds Before Utility & service Charges Apply
YES bank has increased the monthly spending thresholds on utility and service transactions before a fee is charged. This means you now get more free usage before charges kick in, depending on your card:
Card Category
Old Threshold
New Threshold (from Apr 1, 2026)
YES Private
₹50,000
₹1,00,000
MARQUEE / RESERV
₹25,000
₹50,000
Other Retail Cards
₹15,000
₹25,000
✔ Basically, cards with higher status (like YES Private) now allow more utility spending before fees hit.
📌 “Utility & service transaction fee” will now be reflected under that exact name on statements.
2. Transportation Fees (Tolls & Bridges) Revised
Fees on tolls and bridge payments will now be grouped under a “Transportation fee” category. The bank has also raised the spending limits before this charge applies:
- YES Private / MARQUEE / RESERV — threshold raised to ₹75,000
- Other Retail Cards — threshold raised to ₹50,000
Fees are charged only after you cross these monthly limits.
3. wallet Load Fee — New Rules on Adding Money
When you load money into third‑party wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital wallets (like Paytm, amazon Pay, Cred, etc.), a new fee structure starts from April:
- No fee for wallet loads up to ₹2,000 per transaction
- 1% fee on amounts above ₹2,000
- Maximum fee capping: ₹5,000 per transaction
🔹 This change affects payments made from your credit card to wallets.
4. Fees Still Apply Beyond Thresholds
Once you exceed the revised free usage limits:
✔ YES bank will charge 1% of the transaction amount + applicable GST in those categories.
✔ Fees are capped at ₹5,000 per transaction even if the amount is higher.
This applies to utility bills, transportation (tolls/bridge payments), and wallet loads above the thresholds.
What This Means for You
➡️ Better Thresholds Before Charges Apply
If you frequently pay large utility bills or use your credit card for travel spending and wallet payments, the higher threshold amounts offer more free usage each month — which can save money before fees are triggered.
➡️ Still watch Out for Fees
Even with higher caps, if your monthly spend in any of these categories goes above:
- ₹25,000–₹1,00,000 on utilities,
- ₹50,000–₹75,000 on transportation, or
- ₹2,000+ on wallet loads —
you may incur 1% fees + GST.
Why These Changes Matter
These rules are part of YES Bank’s broader effort to:
✔ Encourage usage of credit cards for everyday spends.
✔ Balance reward/fee schemes with business sustainability.
✔ Standardise how certain categories are charged across card types.
Tips to Avoid Unexpected Charges
✅ Track your monthly category spend — especially on utility, transport, and wallet loads.
✅ Stay below your card’s threshold if you want to avoid 1% fees.
✅ review your credit card statement categories to spot how they are classified (Utility & service, Transportation, etc.).
✅ If you use wallets frequently, plan loads in smaller amounts (≤ ₹2,000) to avoid fees.
