Chennai: The tamil Nadu government has issued appointment orders for 50 transgender individuals to join the Village Protection Force (Oor Kaaval Padai). This initiative aims to promote inclusivity and empower the transgender community by providing them meaningful roles in public service.

The newly appointed members have received specialized training to perform responsibilities such as managing crowd control during temple festivals and other public events, ensuring safety, and assisting local authorities in maintaining law and order in villages. Their inclusion in the force reflects the state government’s commitment to diversity, social equality, and community engagement.

Officials emphasized that this move not only strengthens the village Protection Force but also provides opportunities for transgender individuals to contribute actively to society while gaining professional experience and recognition. The initiative is being widely welcomed as a step toward inclusive governance and social empowerment in tamil Nadu.
