Chennai: tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin has hailed the results of recent archaeological excavations at Keezhadi as a historic achievement, stating that the findings have firmly established the antiquity of tamil civilisation.
Speaking about the significance of the discoveries, cm stalin emphasized that the Keezhadi excavations have conclusively demonstrated that tamil culture and urban settlements date back more than 4,000 years, making it one of the oldest continuous civilisations in the world. The excavations have unearthed artifacts, pottery, tools, and inscriptions that provide clear evidence of an advanced and literate society in the region, long before many other contemporary civilisations.
The chief minister described the excavations as a moment of pride for tamil Nadu and the tamil people, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting Tamil heritage, language, and culture. He said, “We have fulfilled our historic duty by proving Tamil’s antiquity and showing the world the richness and depth of our civilisation.”
Stalin also noted that the findings underscore the need for continued support for archaeological research and heritage conservation, encouraging scholars and young researchers to study and disseminate knowledge about tamil Nadu’s past. The Keezhadi project, he added, is a testament to the state government’s commitment to cultural preservation and education, demonstrating that tamil civilisation has a deep-rooted history of urban planning, literacy, and social organisation.
Experts involved in the excavation have also highlighted the broader implications of the discoveries, noting that they provide valuable insights into ancient tamil society, trade, governance, and everyday life, making Keezhadi a key site for understanding South India’s historical and cultural evolution.
With these findings, tamil Nadu has strengthened its position on the global map of ancient civilisations, inspiring pride among Tamils worldwide and reaffirming the significance of preserving and celebrating tamil heritage for future generations.
