The Tamil Nadu government has launched a special pink-coloured bus service exclusively for women passengers in Chennai. This initiative was inaugurated by chief minister M.K. Stalin at the World Women’s Summit event in Nandambakkam, Chennai. The aim is to improve women’s safety, mobility, and convenience in public transport, and to empower them socially and economically.

  • The pink buses are dedicated to female commuters and designed to be safer and easier for women to use.
  • This is part of broader efforts by the tamil Nadu government to support women’s safety and improve access to transportation.

📍 Routes Where pink Buses Will Operate

The special pink buses will run on five key routes in Chennai, with two buses on each route10 buses in total.

Here are those routes:

56A — Broadway to Ennore

32B — Korukkupet railway station to Vivekanandar Illam

57 — Chengalpet to Vallalar Nagar

102P — Broadway to Semmanjeri

102K — Broadway to Kannagi Nagar

These routes cover important commuter corridors in the city, connecting residential areas to major workplaces and transit hubs.

💬 Remarks by the Chief Minister

During the launch event, cm M.K. stalin noted that tamil Nadu has one of the highest numbers of working women in India and emphasized that such services will help more women travel safely to their jobs and daily activities.

He also highlighted the government’s focus on women’s employment and empowerment — saying that in future, any new initiative in the state should consider how many jobs it can create for women.
