The tejas Express, India's first private train, reportedly delayed 2.5 hours in 3 journeys on saturday and sunday, causing irctc to pay about Rs 4.5 lakhs for the max of 2035 people for the first time. Due to a signalling malfunction at delhi train station following heavy rain last saturday, tejas reached two and a half hours overdue. The Lucknow-Delhi express was also delayed for approximately an hour on Sunday.

Tejas Express is the nation's first train to provide travellers compensation payments if the train is late. There is a clause for payment of Rs 100 if the train was an extra hour & Rs 250 if the rail is 2 hrs or more late. The train's operator, irctc, would have to repay a maximum of three lakh 93,500 rs to 1574 tejas travellers onboard on saturday at the price of 250 rs per person, whereas 561 travellers on the first trip on sunday would be given 150 rupees for a 1 hr delayed.

Tejas Express, which is designed with flight-like features, began initial service connecting lucknow as well as delhi starting august 4, 2019. So far, just around five reports have been made for a delay of less than 1 hour. According to the irctc, the service has never been late 99.9% of the time.
