There was a time when about 100,000 tigers ruled the forests around the world, but by the time of the 21st century, their number was reduced to less than four thousand. India had achieved this target in 2018. According to the report released by the Department of tiger Reserves and Environment, there were 1,700 tigers in india in the year 2010, while by the year 2018, this number had increased to 2,967. The census of tigers in the country is done every four years, from which their growth rate is ascertained. Meanwhile, it is a matter of concern that in the last three years in india, 329 tigers died due to hunting, natural and unnatural reasons. Of these, 96 tigers were killed in 2019, 106 in 2020 and 127 in 2021. However, necessary steps are being taken by the government regarding the matter.
