Omicron updates: Scientists observed new symptoms of the new variant

The covid symptoms with the new variant had been described as 'extremely mild' by the Scientists from South Africa. This new variant which is of high concern was named 'Omicron' by the WHO. The Chairman of the South African Medical Association, Angelique Coetzee informed that she started to monitor the patients from november 18th who were having unusual symptoms which were slightly different from the old delta variants being the dominant strain till now.

It all started with a patient aged 33 years who reported extreme body pain and body aches with mild headaches said the doctor from South Africa.
The patient instead of throat pain had a 'scratchy throat' with no cough and no loss of taste and smell which was the past symptoms from the old variants of covid-19. Many people had symptoms that were varying from the delta variant which made the doctor concerned about a new mutated variant. This made Coetzee raise an alarm to South Africa's vaccine advisory committee. Few other patients with the new omicron variant showed only 'mild' symptoms and many other doctors in south africa noted these similar cases only. The patient with the new variant with mild symptoms is not admitted to the hospital due to its extremely mild conditions. WHO has said that it takes a few weeks to tell how the variant will affect and its therapeutics. Early data showed that is spreading more rapidly and it may trigger the next new wave of infections also.
