The water found in the area known as the Valley Mariners is hidden beneath the surface of Mars. It covers an area of about 45,000 sq km and is estimated to be about the size of the state of Haryana.

A large body of water was discovered on Mars. The discovery was made by the Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO), a breakthrough in the attempt to colonize Mars.

This discovery will give scientists the energy to search for water in places other than the planet's polar regions. The spacecraft's presence was detected during a mapping of hydrogen, which measures the amount of water at the top of Mars' soil.

No ice with the presence of water was found in the equator of Mars, where due to the extreme temperature, the orbiter searched for the presence of water and ice but later switched to minerals at lower latitudes.

The discovery was made by the Fine Resolution Epidermal Neutron Detector (FREND) Telescope on the spacecraft. The presence of water has been revealed in an area with an unusually large amount of hydrogen in the mighty Wallace Marineris Gorge.

‘Assuming that the hydrogen we see is connected to water molecules, it seems that 40 per cent of the material near the surface of this region is water.
The european Space Agency, which is searching for water on Mars, said the area in Cander Chaos, part of the gorge, was the size of the Netherlands.
The team said the water, discovered by the orbiter, could be in the form of ice or water that is chemically contaminated with other minerals in the soil.

As the mission plans to land on the lower latitudes of Mars, scientists hope that finding such a reserve water planet will be of great benefit to future missions.
