Ponniyin Selvan 2 picks up where part one left off with the narrative. The final steps are being taken in Nandini's (Aishwarya Rai) plan to kill the heirs and bring an end to the Chola Empire. Did Nandini's intentions come to fruition? Why did she first aim to assassinate the Chola heirs? The core of ponniyin selvan 2 is formed by the responses to these.

In the second, the core cast from ponniyin selvan Part One is still present. In addition to playing crucial roles, Vikram, Karthi, aishwarya Rai, jayam Ravi, and trisha take the lead. Here, only the screen duration varies depending on the plot. The second act is essentially an emotional drama since each character experiences an arc that places them in difficult situations or helps them to overcome them. For the same reason, there is less fun.

Vikram effortlessly portrays the grief and suffering of a crown prince who feels deceived in love while simply nailing his part. Of all the actors, aishwarya Rai receives the most important role in the second film. She communicates the moral quandary beautifully and has an ethereal appearance. She also plays a parallel role, an elderly woman, and does okay. The much anticipated confrontation sequences between vikram and aishwarya Rai have turned out well, effectively capturing all the stress and agony.

Karthi's persona isn't as entertaining as it was in Part 1. His character has greater drama, and he approaches the situation in his trademark clinical manner. In a few poignant scenes, jayam ravi truly shines, illuminating his persona. Finally, trisha is competent but, in comparison to the first outing, she lacks the major moments.
