Shiva (1989) is a cult classic and a benchmark for student life centric gangster drama in Tollywood. The film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, who made his debut with the action-packed entertainer, the film starred Akkineni Nagarjuna in the title role as Shiva, a college student turned gangster, and his real-life pair Amala paired with him, besides Raghuvaran playing a menacing evil gangster Bhavani.

The film had dialogues by Tanikella Bharani, and music by Maestro Ilayaraja, and had a successful 100 days run in 22 centers and 175 days run in 5 centers. The Tamil dubbed version Udhayam was a blockbuster as well and turned out to be a breakthrough for Nag.

Today, the Maverick maker made an announcement on his official Facebook page that he'll soon be joining hands with King Nag, and this will have no connections with the content or concept of Shiva, but that it'll be a fresh script with some realistic action, and will be a different kinda script never attempted by himself or Nagarjuna in their illustrious careers so far.

With this announcement, the excitement of fans is sure to grow high, but it is to be considered that despite Nag being a versatile actor who's always willing to experiment and has been In good form despite the failure of his mythological Om Namo Venkatesaya, RGV hasn't been in good form, as he hasn't scored a success for a long time how with his last decent Venture being Rakta Charitra. It is to be seen if the reunion of the iconic Shiva combo can revive the fortunes of Ram Gopal Varma.
