To this priyanka said, "This is another wonderful example of my husband's strength. I was kind of... like I just went silent, I didn't know how to react. I remember he (Nick) telling me He held me by the shoulders and I asked, 'Just tell me what to do because I don't understand' and he said, 'Just get in the car with me' and then we left for the hospital From the time she was born until the moment she took her first breath, she has never been without one of us."
Malti was born prematurely, so her first few days were quite challenging. That's why priyanka and Nick were very worried about him. To this priyanka says, "I don't think it was our test. I think it was her (Malti's) test. I realized long ago that this is not the time to be afraid or weak, because She (Malti) was scared and vulnerable. So I had to be her strength as her mother. I needed to make her feel every moment that she is not alone."
Priyanka used to stay awake at night to check whether Malti was alive or not.
When Malti was brought home after being in the NICU for 100 days, Nick and Priyanka wanted to do their best for her. In the same interview, priyanka recalled those nights when she used to wake up every two minutes just to see whether Malti was alive or not.
To this priyanka said, "You know your baby is alive because you can see its heartbeat on the monitor. I couldn't sleep for days because suddenly she came home without a monitor.
