Alia Bhatt, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors, was all set to make her much-anticipated debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. However, as per recent reports, her red carpet appearance has been postponed due to the current geopolitical tensions between india and Pakistan. The actor was reportedly scheduled to walk the red carpet on the festival’s opening night, May 13.

Doubts Over Alia’s Cannes Outing

The 78th edition of the Cannes Film festival began on May 13 and will run until May 24.

“As the L'Oreal ambassador, alia was supposed to make her Cannes debut. She was slated to attend the grand opening ceremony, for which she had to fly over the weekend. But in the current times of geopolitical tension between india and Pakistan, she wanted to express solidarity with the country and decided against going,” Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.

With the situation reportedly de-escalating following a ceasefire, there is still hope for Alia’s participation. The festival is 11 days long. Of course, there were several activities planned around her today and tomorrow, but she is still contemplating whether she can make it in the coming days. It will also depend on her schedule back home,” the source added.

According to a Hindustan Times report, sources close to the actress revealed that alia and her team are expected to release an official statement regarding her Cannes appearance soon.
