Congress Protests Against G Ram Ji Bill Across States

Nationwide congress Protest

The congress party has launched protests across various parts of the country against the central government’s G ram Ji (VB-G ram Ji) bill.

Demonstrations have already taken place in karnataka, while a major protest is scheduled in Tripura on Sunday.

The protests focus on the government’s decision to rename the nearly 20-year-old MNREGA scheme and alleged misuse of central agencies.

Tripura Protest Announcement

The congress will organize statewide protests across Tripura opposing the renaming of MNREGA as VB-G ram Ji.

Senior congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said the party does not oppose the name “Ram” but strongly objects to the removal of mahatma Gandhi’s name from the historic employment guarantee law.

He stated that removing Gandhi’s name insults the legacy of the father of the Nation and undermines the spirit of the scheme.

Concerns Over States’ Financial Burden

Roy Barman warned that the new bill proposes 125 days of work per job card holder, with funding shared in a 60:40 ratio between the Centre and states.

He said this would significantly increase the financial burden on states, many of which are already facing economic stress.

According to him, the Centre is shifting responsibility while taking political credit.

Congress plans to hold block-level rallies across Tripura to mobilize public opinion.

Protests Continue in Karnataka

In karnataka, congress workers staged protests against both the G ram Ji bill and the National Herald case.

The demonstration at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, was led by Deputy chief minister and State congress President D K Shivakumar.

Several senior leaders, ministers, and MLAs participated in the protest.

Shivakumar’s Strong Remarks

Shivakumar said the congress will not allow “Gandhi’s india to be turned into Godse’s India.”

He accused the bjp of trying to erase mahatma Gandhi’s legacy by removing his name from MNREGA.

He described the move as an attack on India’s freedom struggle and called it an act of betrayal.

Attack on BJP Over National Herald Case

Shivakumar also targeted the central government over the National Herald case.

He alleged that the bjp is misusing central agencies to harass sonia gandhi, rahul gandhi, and other congress leaders.

He accused the Centre of acting out of political hatred and losing its democratic values.

Earlier Protests in Belagavi

Earlier, Shivakumar, chief minister Siddaramaiah, ministers, and congress MLAs protested in front of the gandhi statue at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.

The protest took place during the winter session of the karnataka legislature, held from december 8 to 19.
