Bollywood icon suniel shetty recently opened up about his deep-rooted friendship with salman khan, praising the superstar's generous nature and addressing the common misconceptions surrounding him. In an interview with Lallantop, Suniel also defended Salman’s recent box office performances, arguing that even his so-called "flops" outperform much of the industry.
Suniel Shetty on his bond with salman Khan
Reflecting on an emotional moment when salman got teary-eyed while speaking about Suniel during an IIFA event, the actor said:
"Salman is the most misunderstood human being on the planet. If I had to describe him in words, one would be a ‘human being’ and the other ‘being human’ – that is Salman. He is a human of another level with every act of his. I share a beautiful relationship with him. I don't meet him regularly, but there is a lot of love and respect."
Suniel defends Salman’s recent box office run
Suniel also weighed in on the criticism salman khan has faced for his recent releases: “Unki flop hum ₹200 crore ki film ki baat karte hain, jabki aadhi industry ke liye vo hit nahi superhit hai (We call his ₹200 crore film a flop, whereas for half the industry, that would be considered not just a hit but a superhit). Sometimes you go wrong in the selection of films. And he works from heart."
He continued, "When salman gets a good subject film it will do magic. Unki naa chalne waali film ₹200 crore kamati hai. Iss saal ki saari films ka number dekhlena—you’ll know it will be lower than a salman khan film.”
Salman’s recent releases
For context, Salman Khan's recent films have underwhelmed compared to his past blockbusters. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki jaan earned ₹184.6 crore globally, while tiger 3, co-starring katrina kaif and Emraan Hashmi, managed ₹464 crore worldwide—still below expectations.
His latest release, Sikandar, received mixed reactions for its lackluster storyline. While the makers claimed it crossed ₹200 crore in ten days, reports from Sacnilk suggest a total of ₹184.6 crore globally.
