Lawrence D'Souza worked as a mechanic in a garage before entering the film line. Even after making his first film, 'Nyay Anyaya' in 1990, the film 'Saajan' came to him like a miracle. Shooting on the sets of the film 'Saajan' was a big task for Lawrence. salman khan was famous for not coming on time. Then how did lawrence shoot? On this, he says, 'I used to get sanjay dutt and madhuri dixit to shoot in the morning. Then I used to shoot with salman at night. This way our film was shot on time.' He further says, 'When Sanjay Dutt was given the role of a lame person in this film, many people rebuked him. Why should a hero with an action image play such a role? Later, the film became a hit due to a different story.'
In the interview, lawrence D'Souza further says, 'We were shooting the film 'Aarzoo' in scotland with akshay kumar and madhuri Dixit. There was a scene in which akshay kumar and madhuri had to go 60 feet up in a helicopter. madhuri ji was not ready for this scene. In such a situation, I told Akshay to get into the helicopter while talking to Madhuri. I told madhuri to just step on the helicopter; we will do something later. Then suddenly I signaled the pilot to fly it. madhuri did not realize that she had come quite high above the ground. Later, she looked down. When the helicopter came back, madhuri agreed to give that shot again.
Lawrence D'Souza also remembers that era of the 90s, when there was fear of the underworld. Due to the fear of the underworld, he sold his car worth 14 lakhs for 5 lakhs. Later, the underworld people even shot at him. He says, 'I did a film 'Indian Babu'. I launched the son of the producer of this film. The budget of the film was very big. The underworld people came to know about this. I started getting threats for money. I did not take it seriously. Then one day I was sitting in my office, and there was firing at me. After this, my wife also got calls. But gradually this matter ended.
