To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film, producer vidhu vinod chopra organized a special screening of the film in Mumbai. At the event, he revealed how vidya got this role even though many big actresses wanted to do this role.
Vidya Balan gave many auditions for this role. vidhu vinod chopra said- 'Many actresses wanted to play Parineeta, but pradeep sarkar said there is a new girl from Chembur. So I said- take the audition of this Chembur girl. I usually don't meet the actors during screen tests. vidya gave many auditions.'
Vidya was abused before the final test
He further said- 'I told pradeep that let's do a final test. vidya was so tired of this process that she started mumbling abuses before the final test. I could see her saying What does he think of himself. Till then, she had given 20-25 tests. But after that, she gave a brilliant final test, and it was amazing. I told pradeep to call her immediately.'
Talking about the special screening of Parineeta, many big stars attended it. Rekha, Dia Mirza, vidya balan, vidhu vinod chopra, Shreya Ghoshal, and rajkumar hirani attended it.
