Initial Symptoms and Diagnosis

During the lockdown, sanjay dutt experienced breathing difficulties while climbing stairs.

Despite taking a bath and resting, the breathing issue persisted.

He consulted a doctor, and an X-ray revealed that half of his lungs were filled with fluid.

Initially, doctors suspected tuberculosis (TB), but later tests confirmed it was lung cancer.

Emotional Breakdown

The diagnosis left Sanjay shocked and devastated.

He recalled crying for 2–3 hours continuously, thinking about his wife and children.

Despite the emotional turmoil, he decided not to appear weak and planned for treatment.

Visa Rejection and Treatment Decision

Sanjay initially planned to travel to the united states for treatment.

However, his US visa application was rejected, forcing him to reconsider.

He then decided to undergo treatment in India.

Support from Rakesh Roshan

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who had also battled cancer, supported Sanjay during this phase.

Rakesh shared his personal experience and guided him about chemotherapy side effects.

He told Sanjay that his hair might fall, vomiting could occur, and physical weakness would set in.

Positive Attitude Towards Chemotherapy

Sanjay refused to give in to weakness, insisting, “Nothing will happen to me.”

He underwent chemotherapy sessions in Dubai.

After each session, he ensured to stay physically active:

Sat on his bike for an hour cycling.

Played badminton for 2–3 hours daily.

He maintained a strong willpower, calling his routine “madness”, but it helped him cope with treatment.
