According to party sources, a crowd of 1.5 lakh people had gathered for the TDP's two-day 'Mahanadu' event. This is being seen as the party's strong emergence in view of the 2024 elections in Andhra. But experts believe that it is not necessary that the crowd gathered in the programs to turn into votes.

TDP chief chandrababu naidu raised slogans of 'Jagan Hatao, Andhra Bachao' in last week's 'Mahanadu' as he campaigned for the 2024 andhra pradesh assembly elections. He was addressing an annual convention organized for tdp workers.

According to party sources, around 1.5 lakh people participated in this two-day convention. After two years of virtual meetings due to the pandemic, the party's program is being described as 'very successful' and filling tdp workers with 'josh'.

Naidu, the former Andhra chief minister, announced at the convention that 40 per cent of the party's tickets for the next assembly elections would be given to youths - youth below 40 years of age. He further told that the top leadership of tdp has decided not to give tickets to those who lose three consecutive elections.

Clearing doubts about his ability to lead the party at a young age, the 70-year-old leader shared his plans to make the party stronger at the grassroots level after two years of virtual engagement with the masses. Naidu said, “I will also be on the field from now on and will visit at least two districts every month. Our cadre has also been instructed to be visible to the public and work at the grassroots level.

Naidu had earlier said, 'There is no such thing as worry about my age. prime minister narendra modi is also of the same age. If anything matters, it's your job. Young people in their 30s can't do as much work as I do. It seems as if the party members are yet to get rid of Naidu's heat. “Our leader is always young at heart and as long as he is in the party, the party will remain,” Buchaiah Naidu, a tdp leader from Guntur, told at the event.

TDP sources told that the former CM's son nara lokesh is also all set to start a mega walkathon (padayatra) in October. This yatra will continue till the 2024 assembly elections. lokesh has also been a former minister of state. According to tdp sources, the party chief asked the leaders of 'Mahanadu' to focus on 'local issues' instead of bringing up bigger problems. This is expected to have a better impact on the local voters.

TDP leader Pattabhi ram told ThePrint, “We have asked every candidate to focus on their constituency and the MLAs there to highlight only the issues related to local leaders and allegations of corruption. This way voters will respond better. In fact, in view of the elections in the future, the game of showing their strength has started between the tdp and the current rival congress PARTY' target='_blank' title='ysr congress-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>ysr congress Party.

The government of cm YS Jaganmohan reddy organized a four-day 'bus yatra' last week to create awareness among the people about the chief minister's welfare schemes. His bus journey was similar to that of tdp 'Mahanadu'. Both the parties are bragging about the success of their respective events. But the huge gathering at events does not necessarily translate into votes, especially for the tdp, which lost to the YSRCP by a huge margin in 2019.

Senior political analyst nageswara rao said in a YouTube commentary, “It is not surprising that Mahanadu got a good response to TDP. In fact, it would have been surprising if they did not manage to mobilize the crowd. But… there are instances where parties have lost despite throngs of crowds – the West bengal election is a good example. Lakhs of people attended the meeting of narendra modi there. He also got 40 percent of the votes but he was reduced to only 70 seats and could not form his government. So it is difficult to say anything by looking at the crowd.
