On Thursday, telangana governor tamilisai soundararajan announced that she had not received an invitation to the recent hyderabad opening of the telangana Secretariat, which had been presided over by telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Speaking at an event in Chennai, Soundararajan said that she was not even invited since the chief minister was in charge of the state. She questioned why, if the opposition refers to the president as non-political, they don't say the same thing about governors.

"The telangana Secretariat was just brilliantly constructed and opened by the CM. Whether the governor was invited was a topic of discussion. No, they said, since cm is in charge. I didn't even receive an invitation to that function. tamilisai soundararajan, the governor of telangana and the lieutenant governor of puducherry questioned the opposition's assertion that the president is an apolitical figure.

"State governments that disobey the governors of their respective states are weeping crocodile tears over the constitutional head's exclusion from the new parliament building's opening. I wasn't told or invited to the telangana New Secretariat's opening, Soundararajan said.

The statements by Soundararajan were made against the backdrop of the continuing controversy surrounding prime minister Narendra Modi's planned May 28 opening of the new parliament building. However, at least 21 opposition parties have made the decision to boycott the inauguration because of the PM's plan to preside over the ceremony rather than President Droupadi Murmu.
