The central government has denied the allegations in connection with the Pegasus eavesdropping case. An affidavit filed in the apex court said that an expert panel would be set up to look into the matter further. Israeli-made spyware called Pegasus is commonly used to hack terrorists' cell phones to gather information about their whereabouts. 


Israel only provided Pegasus software to the central government on the grounds that it was an anti-terrorism weapon and to protect the Nation. But in India, controversy erupted over the hacking of the cell phones of many Union ministers, opposition leaders, judges, and journalists using this Pegasus software. Similarly, the issue of eavesdropping on Pegasus software has taken a big controversy around the world. 


Political party leaders have demanded that an explanation regarding the Pegasus scam from the Center, but the central government never responded in an exact manner. The case came up for hearing before a bench headed by Chief Justice NV ramana today. The affidavit filed by the central government stated that the petitions were filed on the basis of unconfirmed and incomplete information. The central government also confessed that an expert panel will be set up to look into the Pegasus issue.
