Brahma, a tirunelveli lawyer, has requested information from the Judge Arumugasami Commission of Inquiry into the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa and the Judge Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry into the Tuticorin shooting incident under the Right to Information Act. The Government's Public Information Officer responded as follows: From 2001 to 2021, a total of 24 commissions of inquiry were established in tamil Nadu. On september 25, 2017, the Judge Arumugasami Commission was established to investigate Jayalalithaa's death.

The investigation began on november 22, 2017. The commission has spent Rs 3.52 crore so far. 154 people have been arrested so far. The Commission of Inquiry will be in place until january 2022. The time limit has been increased to 24 hours. Similarly, a one-person commission investigating the Tuticorin shooting incident, led by Justice Aruna Jagadeesan, is said to have cost Rs 4.23 crore.

It should be noted that, the commission still never revealed the exact happenings of Jayalalitha's suspicious murder as no notable evidences are also found with respect to the case. It should be recalled that, the CCTVs present in the Apollo hospital were also missing and most of them are still puzzled as what actually happened inside the hospital premises.
